Mardi Himal trek is one of those out-of-the-way gems when it comes to trekking in the Annapurna region. Located to the south of one of the most popular trekking routes in the world, Annapurna Base Camp, the trail to Mardi Himal has so far been ventured by only a handful of trekkers.

The major highlights of this trek undoubtedly is Mardi Himal Base Camp, where you will reach after hiking through traditional Nepali villages while enjoying scenic landscape and stunning views of Annapurna South, Himchuli and Machhapuchhare mountains.

The journey begins from Kathmandu, Pokhara and further You will reach Australian Base Camp, a popular viewpoint among travelers, on the third day. Your journey to the base camp of Mardi Himal continues via Forest Camp and High Camp. The return journey takes you to Siding, a picturesque Gurung village, where you will stop for lunch.

This trek is the perfect option for travelers who want to avoid the overcrowded Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill trails without having to give up on amazing scenery. We have rated this trek easy to moderate and consider it a great option for beginners. The maximum altitude during this trek 4,500 metres at Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Free at Leisure.

An early morning drive on a tourist bus will take you to Pokhara, the city of lakes, located around 200 km from Kathmandu (the drive takes six to seven hours). Check into your hotel in Pokhara on arrival. You are free for the rest of the day. (Breakfast)

After breakfast, it is time to head for Kande, the starting point of the trek. It takes around one and a half hour to reach there. Time to kick some dirt. Start hiking through the beautiful trail and climb upward to reach the Australian Base Camp, which takes around three hours. Australian Base Camp is a beautiful village from where you can see unobstructed views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhare, Nilgiri, Himchuli and Manaslu, among other peaks. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Continue your journey to Forest Camp after breakfast in the morning. The journey will take about six to seven hours of walking. The trail is slightly downhill from Base Camp to Pothana (1,950 m) before it ascends to Deurali (2,100 m).

On reaching Deurali, you will see a signboard pointing toward right saying “Forest Camp”. Follow the path to reach the final destination of the day. The trail takes you through a jungle of oaks, maples, rhododendrons, etc. Spend the night in Forest Camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

The trek to High Camp is probably the most scenic walk of this trek. Hike through a rhododendron forest to reach Badal Danda and then continue your journey through grassy ridges. The total hiking time today is between five to six hours. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Wake up early in the morning and walk for a few hours to reach Mardi Himal Base Camp. Enjoy amazing views of the Annapurna region along the way. The panoramic views of the south face of Mount Annpaurna, Himchuli and Machhapuchhare (Mount Fishtail) are truly rewarding.

Spend a few hours at the base camp before returning to High Camp for breakfast. Your journey comes to an end today after a two-hour downhill walk to Low Camp.(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Today is the last day of the trek. Start the day with a descent down the trail to Siding. The journey takes around five hours. Stop for lunch on reaching Siding before taking a jeep back to Pokhara. (Breakfast & Lunch)

Take a tourist bus back to Kathmandu. The journey takes around seven hours. Our representative will transfer you back to your hotel on reaching the city. (Breakfast)

Tour ends today. This afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight home or onward to a new destination. (Breakfast)
