Kailash Mansarovar Via Lhasa-Ali (12 Days)

Experience the most comfortable and scenic route to Kailash Mansarovar through the cultural capital of Tibet, Lhasa, and the high-altitude town of Ali (Ngari). This route offers a smooth, high-standard travel experience with flights from Lhasa to Ali, reducing long road journeys and making the yatra easier and more convenient.

Begin with spiritual sightseeing in Lhasa, including the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, before flying to Ali and driving to Lake Mansarovar and Darchen, the base of Mount Kailash. The sacred Kora around Mount Kailash and the holy dip at Mansarovar make this journey deeply purifying, peaceful, and unforgettable.

Day 1: Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, attend a short tour briefing followed by dinner. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Pokhara

After breakfast, visit:

Pashupatinath Temple (Rudra Abhishek ceremony)
Saktipeeth
Jal Narayan (Sleeping Vishnu)

After lunch, fly to Pokhara. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

In the evening, enjoy a stroll around the Lakeside area on your own. Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Rudra Abhisheka is performed by offering sacred articles to the Shivlingam while chanting holy mantras.

Day 3: Kathmandu|Lhasa

Fly to Lhasa by Himalayan Airlines. On arrival, transfer to the city (approx. 2 hours) and check into your hotel.

En route, witness the majestic Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) River and Lhasa River. Spend the rest of the day resting and acclimatizing to the altitude. Overnight stay in Lhasa.

Tips:

For newcomers, avoid exertion on the first day. Rest well and let your body adjust to the high altitude.

Day 4: Lhasa Sightseeing|Potala Palace|Johkang Temple|Barkhor Street

Begin your sightseeing with:

Potala Palace:

The winter residence of the Dalai Lama, dating back to the 7th century. Its treasures include golden stupas of previous Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of the 33rd Tibetan king.

Jokhang Temple:

The most sacred temple in Tibet, housing the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at age twelve.

Barkhor Street:

A lively circular market around the temple where pilgrims perform the “kora” ritual. Overnight stay in Lhasa.

Day 5: Lhasa|Ali|Mansarovar

Fly to Ali ((Ngari Gunsa Airport,4400m). located near Shiquanhe in Ngari Prefecture. After landing, drive 220 km to Lake Manasarovar (4500m).Overnight at guest house near Manasarovar..

DAy 6: Mansarovar|Darchen(4765m)

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the divine waters of Lake Manasarovar and perform Pooja–Hawan with deep devotion on its sacred banks. Following a peaceful ritual and lunch, begin your journey to Darchen. Along the way, witness the serene beauty of Rakshas (Ravan) Lake, known for its mythical significance. Arrive in Darchen for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing spiritually for the Kailash Parikrama ahead.

Day 7: Darchen|Sershung|Dirapuk (4765m, 24km).

After breakfast, drive 12 km to Sershung, then begin the trek for the Kailash Parikrama to Dirapuk (16,500 ft / 12 km). Packed lunch will be provided en route. Dinner and overnight stay at a guest house in Dirapuk.

Day 8: Dirapuk|Zuthulpuk (4700m, 18km).

The toughest and most spiritually fulfilling day of the yatra. Ascend to Drolma La Pass (5640m / 18,600 ft) — symbolizing rebirth and spiritual awakening. On the descent, visit Gauri Kund (Lake of Compassion). Continue trekking to Zuthulpuk (10–12 hours total trek). Dinner and overnight stay at guest house.
