Lobuche Peak (6,119m / 20,070ft) is one of Nepal’s most striking trekking peaks, rising dramatically above the Khumbu Glacier and forming a beautiful skyline along the southern ridge. While it stands in the shadow of Mount Everest, Lobuche East offers climbers an equally thrilling adventure — with breathtaking summit views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
There are two distinct Lobuche peaks: Lobuche East and Lobuche West, separated by a deep notch. Lobuche East is the more accessible and popular option, making it a favorite among trekking peak climbers. The ascent involves a mix of snow, ice, and rock sections — providing a rewarding mountaineering experience for those with moderate technical skills.
The first recorded ascent was made by Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa on April 25, 1984, although earlier summit attempts by Everest support teams are possible.
This 21-day expedition combines the iconic Everest Base Camp trek with an exhilarating climb to the summit of Lobuche East — an ideal adventure for trekkers who wish to push beyond trekking and experience real Himalayan climbing.
