The Langtang & Gosaikunda Trek is a journey through contrasts from lush forests and alpine meadows to sacred glacial lakes shimmering beneath Himalayan peaks. Starting from Syabrubesi, the trail follows the Langtang River through bamboo and rhododendron forests into the heart of Langtang Valley. Rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, Langtang Village stands as a symbol of resilience and renewal.
Further up the valley lies Kyanjin Gompa (3,830 m), surrounded by dramatic glaciers and snow peaks. A morning hike to Tserko Ri (4,984 m) rewards trekkers with one of the best panoramic views in Nepal Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, and beyond.
The route then turns south, climbing through the ridge-top villages of Chandanbari and Lauribina toward the shimmering Gosaikunda Lakes a cluster of sacred alpine pools nestled among jagged ridges. According to legend, Lord Shiva created these lakes with his trident.
Crossing Lauribina La Pass (4,610 m), the trek gradually descends through pine forests and Tamang settlements, offering changing landscapes and perspectives until returning to Sundarijal, on the outskirts of Kathmandu.
This trek is ideal for those seeking a balance of cultural depth, scenic diversity, and spiritual tranquility, with the added bonus of being accessible within two weeks from Kathmandu.
