Kailash Mansarovar Via Lhasa

Day 1: Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Free at leisure.

Day 2: Kathmandu

After breakfast at 9 am; visit Pashupati Nath,( Rudra Abhishek at Pashupatinath) Saktipeeth, Boudha Nath, Jalnarayan and Swaybhunath.

Rudra Abhisheka is done by offering various sacred articles to the Shivlingam along with chanting of sacred mantras.

Day 3: Kathmandu/ Lhasa:(3650m)

Fly to Lhasa by Sichuan Airlines at 11:10 , and transfer to city (2 hrs)- check in to your hotel. You may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River/ Bhamaputra river (the Longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa river on their way to Lhasa. After arriving in Lhasa, you can take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude.

Tips:For the new-comers of Tibet, to get acclimatized to the high altitude in Tibet. Having a good sleep in your hotel is a good option. Don not rush to visit attractions inside Lhasa city. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Day 4: Lhasa|Potala Palace|Johkang Temple|Barkhor Street

Today's tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai lama. It was put to use since the 7th Century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.

Then after lunch, tourists head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside, you can see pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is Barkhor street, where you can do kora (a religious circle of a building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market. Stay overnight in Lhasa

Day 5: Lhasa | Gyantse | Shigatse (3900m, 280km)

After breakfast, drive to Shigatse via Gyantse. En route lunch; dinner and overnight at Hotel. It is the second-largest city in Tibet, located about 280 km (174 miles) southwest of Lhasa and home to the Tashihunpo Monastery.

Day 6: Shigatse|Saga

Drive to Saga and overnight stay at Saga Hotel. It’s a small town.

Day 7: Saga | Mansarovar (4500m, 400km)

Today is the day of your lifetime that you are going to have darshan of the Holy “Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarover” - day's program as usual. Holy Dip at the lake followed by Mansarovar Parikrama by environmental buses; view Rakshas Tal and reach Chui Gompa. Overnight at guest house. According to the Hindu religion, the lake was first created in the mind of the Lord Brahma after which it manifested on Earth. Hence, in Sanskrit it is called “Manasa sarovaram”, which is a combination of the words manasa (mind) and sarovaram(lake).

Day 8: Mansarovar | Darchen (4560m)

Till 1 pm free for pooja and hawan , drive to Darchen, base camp of kailas. It is on the southern side of the Kailas Peak wherefrom Kailas-parikrama begins. Overnight at Hotel Himalaya.

Day 9: Darchen | Sershung | Dirapuk (4765m, 18km).

After breakfast, drive to Sershung (12 km) and start trek for Kailash parikrama to Dirapuk (16,500 ft ) - 12 km , packed lunch on the way, Dinner and overnight at Camp (tent/mud-house ).

Day 10: Dirapuk | Zuthulpuk (4690m, 22km).

This is the day every pilgrims talk about, the most difficult journey throughout the yatra. The last pull to the pass is steep and, due to the altitude, unrelenting. At a dizzy height of 5640m (18600ft), the Drolma (Tara) La marks the transition from this life to a new one. 200 m-below the pass is a view of the lake of compassion, Gauri kund (5440m/18400ft). The path stretches ahead, with distant mountains on the horizon. The way down is long and the last descend is quite steep. Further trek on the east bank of the river and reach Zuthulpuk , dinner & overnight at Camp (tent/mud-house ). The walk between Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk may take about 10 to 12 hours.

Day 11: Zuthulpuk | Darchen | New Dongba (360km)

After breakfast we trek around 8 km, and we will reach to the place called Zhong Chu where the vehicle will be waiting for us - drive to Darchen, after lunch we drive to Dongba. Overnight at guest house.

Day 12: Dongba|Shigatse

After breakfast, drive back to Shigatse and overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Shigatse|Lhasa

After breakfast, drive back to Lhasa and overnight in Hotel.

Day 14: Lhasa|Kathmandu

Drive to Airport and fly back to Kathmandu (11: 15 am) and transfer to the hotel. Free at leisure. Farewell dinner with cultural show tonight.

Day 15: Departing Kathmandu

Tour ends today. This afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight home or onward to a new destination.
